Greetings initiate! A little bird tells me you've been thinking about taking a stab at the Trials! You've got quite some balls--or um, ovaries? Well, regardless, you are here because you wish to either start your artistic journey or continue it.

Rest assured, you've come to the right place! For centuries, Studio Ink & Studio Stab have worked under one banner to train young initiates in the representational arts. Their two distinct methodologies, combined, have proved invaluable over the ages.

Studio Ink is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of representational art through both traditional and digital mediums. The studio defines representational art as the type of art which is firmly grounded in realism. Intense abstraction, while not discouraged, will never be taught or endorsed by the studio.

Find out more about Studio Ink's history here.

Studio Stab is home to a one-of-a-kind artistic battleground. It is here where you will go up against fellow students and clash pens.

The Journey Begins

How is Ink & Stab different from other art education resources?

My hope is to provide a structured and straightforward approach to drawing. This website is not, however, the end-all-be-all to art education. I can't teach & cover everything. I'm not trying to. When it comes to drawing in particular, there's an overwhelming amount of resources already available out there on the internet. If you're just starting out though, this is a good launching point. I'm going to make sure that I hammer the basics into your skull and provide you with the mindset you need to keep moving forward.

Students, if they chose to participate, will join our Discord (messaging & community platform) and start out as an "Initiate Artist Level One." As they complete lessons & challenges they'll have the opportunity to submit their work for critique. They will then be awarded points that increase their rank level & eventually progress them into the next rank.

The problem with art is that it can be incredibly hard to measure your progress. It can also be quite a lonely endeavor. This aims to solve both issues. Initiates will have the opportunity to speak to and seek advice from higher-ranked/more experienced artists. This creates an environment where everyone wants to do better and prove their worth.
